How does BBHightech compare with UENI, The Free Website Guys, Wix, Squarespace, Carrd and hiring a freelancer?

BBHightech is the done-for-you option with no upfront cost and a domain that stays yours. We design your one-page website for free, show a live preview, and charge $129 per year (€110) or $15 per month (€13) to keep it live, with hosting, a free domain and SSL included. If you leave, we transfer the domain to you free.

It is not the cheapest option if you are happy to build the site yourself: Carrd costs $19 a year plus a domain. And if you need an online shop or many pages, Wix or Squarespace give you more features, while you do the building.

Competitor facts read from each provider’s own public page on 25 October 2026, linked below; the freelancer row is general guidance, not a specific provider. Prices change; check the provider’s page before you decide. Wix and Squarespace prices depend on your country and their pages did not show us US prices, so we left those cells out instead of guessing. US dollar prices unless stated.

BBHightech

We design a one-page website for your business for free and send you a live preview. Changes on the preview are free and nothing is due upfront. Going live costs $129 per year (€110) or $15 per month (€13), the same flat price for every business. Hosting, a free domain, SSL and mobile-friendly design are included, and small updates are included all year: hours, prices, photos, text. The domain is yours, and if you ever leave we transfer it to you free.

Good fit if

  • You want someone else to build it, and to see it before paying
  • You want a low, fixed yearly price with the domain included
  • You want the domain in your hands, with a free transfer if you leave

Not a fit if

  • You need an online shop, logins or payments (our separate web app service, quoted per project, hosting €225/year)
  • You want a large multi-page site
  • You want to build and edit everything yourself

UENI

UENI builds the site for you. On its US pricing page (ueni.com/en-us/pricing) the entry plan, Website Launch, is $24.99 per month or $249.90 billed annually, plus a setup fee shown as $79 in a limited-time offer (crossed out from $599). It lists a custom domain and SSL, a professional email address, hosting and 30 days of done-for-you edits. Its higher Plus plan is $59 per month.

The point to check is the domain. UENI’s terms (ueni.com/en-us/terms) say: “UENI is the registrant of the Domain Name.” Before the agreement ends you can ask for the domain to be transferred to you, “subject to payment to UENI of a transfer fee”, and on cancellation your licence to the website and domain ends. For sites UENI built on Wix, moving the site to your own Wix account is free after 6 months and costs $500 before that.

Where UENI is stronger: a business email address is part of the plan, and it offers bigger plans with more ongoing work done for you.

The Free Website Guys

The Free Website Guys build WordPress websites for free (how it works). You apply, and if accepted you sign up for at least one year of web hosting with Bluehost or IONOS through their affiliate link; that commission is how they are paid. They say most sites take around 7 to 10 hours of work and they do not build “highly complicated” sites. When they finish, you remove their access and edit the site yourself: “We will not own your website nor control it in any way.”

They are selective, though the page gives two different figures: “We accept 2 out of every 5 applicants” in one place, and about 30% of those who apply in its FAQ.

Where they are stronger: you get a WordPress site you fully control, on a host you choose from their two partners. Where we differ: you see a free design and live preview before paying, we keep handling small updates for you, and the price is one flat yearly fee with the domain included.

Wix and Squarespace

Both are website builders: you build the site yourself in their editor. Wix lets you create a site for free and choose a paid plan when ready; its Light plan lists a free domain for 1 year (wix.com/plans). Squarespace has no free plan but a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and annual plans include one year of free domain registration, renewing at the standard rate (squarespace.com/pricing).

Their prices vary by country and the pages showed us non-US prices, so we have not quoted a US price here. Check the plan page for your country.

Where they are stronger: many pages, online stores, bookings and apps, and full control over the design. The cost: your time to build the site and keep it up to date.

Carrd

Carrd is a site builder you use yourself. Its Pro page lists Pro Standard at $19 per year with “Custom Domain URLs” for up to 10 sites, and says Pro lets you “publish sites to any custom domains you own” (carrd.com/pro). A domain is not listed as included, so plan to buy one separately.

To be fair: Carrd is cheaper than us if you build it yourself. $19 a year plus a domain beats $129 a year. What you pay us for is the design, the build and the yearly small updates, done for you.

Hiring a freelancer

This is general guidance, not one provider. A freelancer can build what you ask for, including multi-page sites and custom features, and sets their own price. Before you hire, agree in writing who registers the domain, who pays the hosting, and what later changes cost.

Questions to ask any provider

  1. Whose name is the domain registered in, and what does it cost to take it with me?
  2. What is the price after the first year?
  3. Can I see the site before I pay?
  4. Who makes small changes, and is that included?
  5. What happens to my site and domain if I cancel?

Our answers: the domain is yours and transfers to you free; currently $129/year (€110) or $15/month (€13), the same for every business; yes, the preview comes first; small updates are included all year; and if you leave, the domain is transferred to you free.

Frequently asked questions

How does BBHightech compare with UENI?

Both build the site for you. BBHightech has no setup fee and costs $129 per year (€110) with the domain included, and the domain is yours with a free transfer if you leave. UENI’s Website Launch plan is $249.90 billed yearly plus a setup fee (shown as $79 in a limited-time offer), and its terms say UENI is the registrant of the domain, with a transfer fee to move it to you. UENI includes a business email address.

Is BBHightech cheaper than Carrd?

No. Carrd Pro Standard is $19 per year plus a domain you buy separately, but you build the site yourself. BBHightech costs $129 per year with the domain included, and we design and build the site and handle small updates for you.

How is BBHightech different from The Free Website Guys?

Both build the site for free. The Free Website Guys build WordPress sites for accepted applicants who buy at least one year of hosting with Bluehost or IONOS, and afterwards you maintain the site yourself. BBHightech shows you a free design and live preview before you pay, includes the domain and hosting in one price of $129 per year, and keeps making small updates for you.

Should I use Wix or Squarespace instead?

Use them if you want to build and edit the site yourself, or need many pages, an online store or bookings built in. Use BBHightech if you want a one-page site built for you, shown before you pay, for a flat $129 per year.

Who owns the domain?

You do. The domain is yours. If you ever leave, we transfer it to you free of charge.

Do I have to pay anything upfront?

No. We design the site and show you a live preview first. Changes on the preview are free. You only pay if you decide to put the site live.

Can you build an online shop or booking system?

Yes, as a separate service. Online shops and web apps with logins, payments or built-in booking are quoted per project, and their hosting is €225 per year ($249 per year). The $129 per year offer is for one-page business websites, not shops.
